Florence Barber is a writer & designer with degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, Harvard University, & NewSchool of Architecture & Design. Her written work has been featured in Lunch, MONU, MAS Context, Bartlett LOBBY, & Dichotomy. In design practice, she has contributed to projects at a number of scales, from installations to supertalls.

Her current practice involves projects at intersections of art, architecture, nature, technology, & the environment, aiming to integrate them into new arts-based architectural frameworks addressing problematics of the Anthropocene. Its text-driven division increasingly involves generative AI such as Midjourney, with an interest in developing ways of working ‘alongside’ AI in more lateral ontological spectrums. At its best, her work addresses issues of power & society, with an eye towards balancing aesthetics with justice. She has taught at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago.
