MODEL. Barcelona Festival of Architectures _ Studio Acte

Model. Barcelona Architectures Festival is a space for reflection and celebration that brings us experimental architecture and helps us to rethink how we wish to live together through new city models and imaginaries.

Launched by Barcelona City Council and the Catalan Architects' Association (COAC) in 2022, it is organised through the Fundació Mies van der Rohe in collaboration with a broad team of architects, curators and more than 50 of the city’s institutions and organisations, chosen through an open call for entries.

Model aims to turn urban spaces into a platform for architectural talent and up-and-coming design, the city into a meeting forum for leading thinkers from around the world and, more significantly, architecture into a space for exploration and inspiration for all the city's residents.

Collaboration with LINA Fellows Studio Acte

Estelle Barriol and Fanny Bordes, Studio ACTE, have designed and built a series of furniture for the models of the EUmies Awards exhibition, seats for people and tables for the lectures. They are easy to assemble and disassemble, allowing an easy itinerancy when the exhibition travels. Following conversations between the Rotterdam and the Barcelona teams, the furniture was designed taking into considerations the constraints of a travelling exhibition. The team sent the materials to Barcelona and later built the structures in the exhibition space, the Victòria Eugènia Palace in Montjuïc. They also participated in the press conference of the EUmies Awards in the Barcelona Pavilion, Exhibition opening, the Talks and the ceremony.

During the visit to the exhibition with the press, the Prize winners, clients, representatives from the European Commission and other stakeholders, they presented their work. The exhibition has a space that presents LINA and explains the work of Studio ACTE.
