EASA Archive: Record of an Assembly

EASA Archive is a grassroots practice documenting Europe’s longest-running decentralised, student-led architecture network: the European Architecture Students’ Assembly, founded in Liverpool in 1981 as a horizontal counterpoint to established pedagogical hierarchies, and still without a central institution or fixed address. For forty-five years EASA has produced an experimental body of work which constitutes a largely unexamined chapter in alternative architectural education. No governing body commissions this documentation. The EASA Archive exists to hold what would otherwise disperse irretrievably across a continent, tended year-round by a distributed volunteer workgroup acting as its projective agents, keeping this material in motion. EASA Archive remains underused relative to its potential and we aim to develop it further, moving it from something largely internal to EASA into a lasting, accessible resource for the field.
