Film Sight
I studied at Babelsberg Film University Konrad Wolf in Germany and at film academy FAMU in Prague, department of directing, where finished studies in 2016. My second academical background is in the intersection of theology and philosophy. As a filmmaker, I have directed fiction films and documentaries, short and middle-length, screened in competition in more than 40 international film festivals and awarded several prizes. I have also been selected to participate in numerous international talent film workshops, co-operations and pitches, both in film and social spheres.
Since 2017, I have worked on initiatives under a Prague association Osvěta z.s., where I develop a training of education of film-making accessible for visually impaired people, especially for the youngsters. I also implement this initiative at general schools through workshops aimed at bringing young people closer to their visually impaired peers through cinema. I have organized such events not only in the Czech Republic, but also abroad.
My artistic work is connected with NGO Osvěta, which was founded in 2017 and based on previous personal and practical knowledge of educating visually handicapped children, understanding the needs of innovative education for our target group of young people and lack of free-time activities for blind people. We also try to promote the integration topic among general public by organising interactive games and workshop in different countries to raise awareness of the handicap among young people. We also worked with young refugees occasionally.
I plan to organise social workshops during the residency and to further elaborate my topic of inclusive creativity with the local emphasis of what role the local community creativity plays in arts and how we can include into creativity processes local people from marginalised social background.
My main idea is to explore locally how culture can become more accessible and attractive to people who are usually disengaged from cultural participation. My main expertise is work with people with visual handicap or refugees, but this can be taken as a much wider target group to explore during this opportunity. Through my local workshops (for example, filmmaking with eyes covered), games and talks, I plan to engage local people into accessible events and activities to introduce the topic of creativity as a social tool while exploring local good practices, inspiring social artists and engaged institutions.
I would like to conduct a public workshop of interaction with our special toys and tools with eyes covered (blindfolded). General public can try out several games and methods of how to play and learn without eyesight. I will lead the visitors throughout the unique world of “creativity in the dark” and how other senses can be employed and developed while having fun and discovering the unique world of toys and tools that were originally developed for visually impaired youngsters.
I have a rich experience of conducting such workshops in several European countries for public of all ages and the workshops have always been very positively reviewed. I am looking forward to present our method also to local public during the residency.
