Biennial festival Days of architecture 2023

- Exhibition UN(CONTEXT): Dissecting the layers in Manifesto contemporary arts gallery in Sarajevo featuring work from Deliverable D23.1: Workshop UN(CONTEXT): Dissecting the layers by Prostorož (Slovenia), Puzzle Architecture (North Macedonia) and Haus Brautigam (Germany) and work done by TU Wien/LINA Member (Austria) as part of their year 01 deliverable, and a opening speech by Hana Cirman/LINA (Slovenia)

Days of architecture 2023 Sarajevo held place in cinema Meeting point in September 2023. In 2023, Days of architecture are premiering their freshly transformed format from a yearly to a biennial festival, celebrating the 40th anniversary of Sarajevo Winter Olympic Games in 1984. Festival theme ‘City and Games’ dealing with the Sarajevo Winter Olympics 1984 was curated by the festival curators Hubert Klumpner and Michael Walczak from ETH Zurich (Switzerland), creating a network of different festival collaborators such are Institute for planning and development of Kanton Sarajevo, Architecture faculty of University of Sarajevo, etc. The concept of the olympic games proved to be a fruitful basis for celebrating architectural and creative innovative projects and ideas, which resulted in a series of lectures given by local and international experts in architecture, urban design, planning, etc.

LINA Fellows Meriem Chabani and ADA Otvoreno were asked to give a thematics inspired lecture while presenting their portfolio/project(s) for the first time to the Sarajevan audience. Both held 30-minute presentations, after which they were invited to participate in a panel discussion moderated by Hubert Klumpner. They had an opportunity to present their perspectives and make an exchange not only with experts from the architecture field but also with the audience consisting out of the members of the architecture community, local community, different stakeholders, etc.

Using Days of architecture as a core event around the LINA TALKS was a perfect opportunity to introduce LINA Fellows to our work methodology, where they not only exchanged ideas with our team and local community but they participated as well through means of lectures. We wanted to bring closer different local and international actors which aligns with core LINA values. We also wanted to go beyond a standard lecture format, and explore further but in a less formal setup, what LINA is, what are the unknowns in the wider audience and target groups about LINA - more importantly we wanted to create space for experience exchange between Year 01 LINA Fellow and Year 02 LINA Fellow that was presented to the participants and the public as sort of a know-how. Aim of the event was to inform as many young creatives about LINA as they might be the next LINA Fellows.

Exhibition UN(CONTEXT)

Dissecting the layers, focuses around research done by LINA Fellows from Year 01: Prostorož, Puzzle architecture and Haus Brautigam. The exhibition is a public representation of their work and research while being on a residency in Sarajevo in May 2023. This activity refers to LINA Report 01 by LIFT. Exhibition aimed to present their work in a public space to a local audience and Manifesto gallery of contemporary arts was chosen as a venue as it represents a local partner/community. LIFT collaborated with TU Wien on this exhibition where TU Wien presented their Year 01 research material.
